Waiting for our Bees
Well we went through the day waiting for a call from the post office and so far there has been no call about the bees. Hopefully tomorrow we get a call and they show up, because if they don't, we may end up with some really hungry or some really dead bees. This is all I have for today...other than it's been really boring waiting for a phone call all day.

The Bee-ginning
Here is a couple of pictures of our first two hives. They are still empty and waiting for their bees. My oldest son and I made a two-hour trip up near Danville to acquire our hives on March 12, 2008. We purchased them from Long Lane Honey Farm, located in Fairmount, Illinois. The craftsmanship that David and his family put into these hives are excellent and I would highly recommend Long Lane Honey Farm to everybody needing Beehives and other equipment. While we were getting our hives we also went ahead and ordered our bees which we were told would not ship till the end of April or the first of May. It's been a very long month anxiously awaiting for them to be shipped. Well the time has finally arrived...Our bees were shipped today 04/28/2008, they should be here within a couple of days. Within the next few days we will have more to come in our adventure in raising honeybees. Over the next few days and weeks, follow with us in what will be our diary and log of raising honeybees here in central Illinois. Our plan is to document everything we are doing with our hives, from the beginning and throughout the entire process of taking care of our bees. So follow along with us as we learn how to raise Honeybees.
